UNABLE TO MEET THE CRITERIA FOR RE-REGISTRATION ? It may still be possible to re-register.

Hospital play specialists for a variety of reasons may not meet the set criteria for re- registration: –

  • Job title – (not HPS)
  • Career progression post – e.g. tutor, service manager
  • In other employment

HPSET recognise that knowledge and skills in the work place are transferable and HPS registration is fundamental to specific employment positions. These applications will be assessed on an individual basis following the completion of an audit profile form.

  • Insufficient learning activity

Re-registration will be deferred until the individual is able to provide evidence of having met the criteria.

  • Registration allowed to lapse (i.e. not renewed within the 5 year period).

Individual requirements to be met to satisfy the re-registration criteria will be assessed following completion of an audit profile. If met, the date of expiry of the new period of registration will be brought into line with the registrant's original cohort.

  • Break in practice – defined as a period of five years or more, during which the minimum number of hours of practice has not been completed and, at the end of which, registration with HPSET has not been renewed

Individual requirements to be met to satisfy the re-registration criteria will be assessed following completion of an audit profile. In some situations an interview and / or submission of a portfolio may be required.

The Trustees will not re-register hospital play specialists who fail to provide sufficient evidence of meeting the requirements as, identified from the initial assessment of their profile.

Audit profile forms will be sent automatically as part of the re-registration package when any of the above situations is identified.
